Here in RWB, a team of a dozen of us from different churches visit St. Bart's School, Longleaze and Wootton Bassett Infants School. Our local team includes six members of RWBMC. We are in our 12th year of Opening the Book, and currently average about 50 assemblies/30 stories a year in the schools. 

We are always so encouraged by the enthusiastic reception we receive from pupils, and often hear from children selected to help us that they have been wanting to have that opportunity for a long time.

Puddleducks Parent & Toddler Group operates on a ‘drop-in’ basis on Friday mornings during school term-time between 10.00am - 11.30am for all children from birth to school age. Anyone caring for pre-school children is welcome.

The group is run by a faithful group of volunteers from the church. A small cost (currently £2 per week) is charged per family - this includes refreshments for the grown-ups and a snack for the children (please bring your own drink). 

We want to make Puddleducks a safe and enjoyable environment for the children and ask that anybody attending agrees to our code of conduct when signing in. This agreement is explained using three S's - Special, Safe and Sacred.

How we play

We use both the hall and the church for Puddleducks. We keep an area in the hall for babies and ask that older children do not play in this area so that it is kept safe for young babies on the floor. The rest of the hall is used for table top toys, jigsaws, play dough modelling, dolls, train sets, play kitchen and cars.

The Church is used for larger toys - slide, tents, sit and ride toys. This is a great area for children learning to pedal and steer bikes and try out their toddling skills!

We also have an organised craft and singing-time session (with guitar accompaniment) each week.

Church, but not as you know it...

BRF's* Messy Church is a form of church that involves creativity, celebration and hospitality, and enables people of all ages to belong to Christ together through their local church. It meets at a time and on a day that suits local families and is particularly aimed at people who have never belonged to a church before.

The 26/27 programme is as follows:

• Saturday 19^th September.
• Saturday 17^th October
• Saturday 21^st November
• Sunday 6^th December (Nativity in Messy Church style format) - 4:00pm. Start time TBC.
• Saturday 16^th January
• Saturday 20^th February
• Saturday 20^th March
• Saturday 17^th April
• Saturday 15^th May
• Saturday 19^th June (provisionally Messy Church Goes Wild). 
• Saturday 17^th July.

 Each Saturday session begins at 10:30am and concludes with a delicious lunch - finish time at c1:00pm.
